PRESIDENTIAL PRAYER REQUESTS - JUNE 28 EDITIONRegarding the decision this week of the 9th Circuit Court declaring the mention of "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional, The Presidential Prayer Team is thankful to report that the federal appeals court judge put his ruling on hold indefinitely Thursday. Circuit Judge Alfred T. Goodwin, who wrote the 2-1 opinion stayed his ruling until fellow members of the court decide whether to rehear the case. We urge members to pray with the President that the earlier decision will be swiftly overturned. Pray that our nation's current and future judges will acknowledge that our rights and liberties are derived from a loving and just God and that the Constitution wasn't meant to blot out all mention of God from every public place. And pray with the President for the character development of America's children. Pray that every citizen with the responsibility for the moral training of children will go about his or her responsibilities with care and love, knowing that without God and biblical principles, there is no standard for moral character. Pray for the safety of those still impacted by the destructive fires that continue to burn in Arizona and Colorado. Pray that lives and homes will be preserved and that God will strengthen the brave individuals who battle the flames and protect property and life around the clock. As the Supreme Court enters its summer recess, pray for each member (see names listed below) to be refreshed and prepared to research and evaluate the issues that will be before them in the October, 2002 session. Thank God for the ruling Wednesday allowing school vouchers-which means more children in America may be allowed to enjoy a godly education. Remember in prayer those who serve our nation through military and governmental service, that God will protect and preserve them. |
